Roll crushers are another form of compression crusher that can be used to crush hard and abrasive materials. They represent a medium-to-high initial investment and maintenance requirements are average. Reduction ratios are up to 3:1. This machine requires one-and-a-quarter horsepower per ton per hour of material crushed to make a 1in product. The product from the roll crusher has almost no oversize. The triple roll crusher is the same as above except that it has a reduction ratio of up to 5:1. Roll crushers typically have lower tonnages than their counterparts and are most noted for their low production of fines and controlled output gradation.

There are two types of roll crushers, single roll and double roll. The Roller Crusher of Formats is designed with a large space between the crushing teeth, it generates a final product with a small content of fines. The distance between the crushing rolls can be adjusted to fine tune the product size and to compensate any wear. For increasing the crushing ratio, but also to get a more cubical product shape, the Roller Crusher can be equipped with a breaker bar. The elastic mechanical coupling absorbs strong any shocks that may occur.
